PHOENIX

The second mythological creature piece for the Lost Lands Adventure Park is the Phoenix. Taking inspiration and reference from a secretary bird, I was able to stylize a Phoenix head that presented itself both as regal and aggressive. Knowing that I would be placing the sign in front of the bird, I sketched it in separate pieces. After I completed the wing I mirrored it, completed the PHOENIX letters then rendered the body and feet around the letters. 

The letters were sketched from block letters with cracks to replicate lava rocks to stay with the Phoenix rising from the ashes theme.
